2024 was an incredible year for Compass Coffee, filled with milestones, new beginnings, and unforgettable stories. As we look back, it’s hard to pick just a few highlights from such a big year, but we’ve narrowed it down to what we’re calling our Top 4 for 2024.
Serving Thousands at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference
This year, we had the honor of serving coffee at the largest gathering of Bitcoin enthusiasts in history. Over 20,000 Bitcoiners came together at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference in Nashville to celebrate, debate, and dive deep into the world of cryptocurrency. Compass Coffee was at the center of it all as the exclusive coffee provider, serving thousands of cups and sharing our story of how we merge Bitcoin with our growing business.
We even got to showcase our special Bitcoin Blend Coffee, created in collaboration with the Embassy of El Salvador and purchased in – you guessed it – Bitcoin. It fueled conversations and connections among attendees and gave us the chance to showcase the two things we love most: crypto and coffee. 😊
Opening 5 New Cafes
2024 marked another year of growth for Compass Coffee as we opened 5 new cafes across Washington, DC, and Virginia. Each new cafe was a chance to connect with vibrant, unique neighborhoods, meet incredible new people, and expand our team by growing new leaders within our cafes.
We believe coffee is about more than just the cup — it’s about building relationships and creating spaces where communities can gather. It’s exactly why one of our core values is to “build your city.” Every new opening reminds us why we do what we do, and we’re excited to bring Compass Coffee to even more neighborhoods in the years ahead.
Celebrating Our 10-Year Anniversary
2024 was a landmark year for many reasons (as you can see just by reading this blog post) but one big reason stands out — Compass Coffee turned 10! From our humble beginnings in our first cafe on 7th Street back in 2014 to where we are now, it’s been an incredible journey fueled by our commitment to quality and the support of our customers.
To mark the occasion, we launched our exclusive 10-Year Celebration Tin and celebrated a little extra with the opening of a new cafe! A decade of serving real good coffee is something we’re deeply proud of, but we know it wouldn’t have been possible without the community who has supported us every step of the way. Thank you for making this milestone happen, and for making it so meaningful.
Visiting Our Farmers in Indonesia and Vietnam
We believe that great coffee starts with great relationships. This year, members of our team traveled to origin to meet the farmers in Indonesia and Vietnam who produce the beans we use in some of our blends. These trips are about more than sourcing coffee — they’re about building meaningful relationships with the farmers we work with and reinforcing our commitment to ethical sourcing. By understanding every step of the coffee-growing process and the hard work behind it, we ensure you can feel good about the coffee you drink every day.
On to 2025!
As we close the books on 2024, we’re filled with gratitude for everyone who has been part of this journey. Whether it’s the farmers we work with, the customers who visit our cafes, or the teams who make everything possible, this year has been a reminder of what makes Compass Coffee special.
